JUMP Update

Grace and peace to all. It’s the end of May already!!- hard to believe. We are hard at work preparing for summer teams. We still have openings for some small teams due to reduction in the size of current teams. If anyone is interested in serving Jesus in the city this summer, let us know.
We just finished our second session of GEMS, ladies study, and it was amazing to watch as three women came to a saving knowledge of Christ. As the study went on you could see evidence of the change in their hearts. There was not a sinner’s prayer said publically which some seem to require, but more importantly, over the weeks, the women began to encourage others and give witness to God’s grace and mercy in their own lives. By the end of the study, they all knew their lives were changed forever. Just this week the girlfriend of one woman’s son was in a car accident. Four of six people were injured critically and all are hospitalized. This lady and her sister (both GEMS) have been at the hospital praying for the young people. The young people have requested their prayers. They are so excited to be able to offer hope to others.
In May we had a luncheon for mothers, with an emphasis on ministering to women who have lost children or mothers. It was a beautiful time. Holly Mutlu, our daughter was the speaker and she did a wonderful job. Several women expressed that they had not really realized that they had stuffed things and tried to ignore the pain. We hope their Mother’s Day was a little easier and they were able to celebrate their motherhood or their mothers in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.
The men’s weightlifting study is continuing, but it is mostly teens attending. There have been three men regularly ministering and teaching the teens. Pray that the Word that is planted will take root and they will be able to apply it to their lives.
We are still attending Promised Land Church and also the church at Promesa, the AIDS hospital. What a blessing they both are. We are beginning to take a more active role at Promesa and will be placed on a preaching rotation. Kendy is helping to lead worship. Because of our commitments at StreetLight, we are limited in the time we can spend at Promised Land. Which brings us to the next news. We have prayed and waited and we feel that we are being led to begin Sunday worship services at StreetLight. Our pastor, our neighbors and friends who have been part of the ministry have encouraged us. So June 14 at 1pm we will have our first service. Please pray for this.
Last update prayer request and answers:
• Pray that we will truly be a light in the street. – this is a standing request, but please pray particularly for the church services.
• Pray that we will be able to really get through to the kids for Jesus beyond just being a safe place- Progress is happening slowwwllllly.
• Pray that God will equip and prepare us for the road ahead. I am still taking online classes and Harve is taking chaplaincy classes. We are waiting still to see what road is actually ahead.
• Pray that I will be able to afford to spend more time with the ministry.- I took a voluntary layoff at work. The grant that paid me ended and a new source has not yet happened. Now I will be able to work with the teams and I am on unemployment.
• Pray that God will open the doors for the for a summer program at StreetLight. We are doing a summer program. We don’t really have the funding but we are charging a small amount to students that can afford it. We know God will provide in some way.
• Pray for Leo who is finishing in Honduras and still needs funding. Leo has returned to the Bronx and it is exciting to see the growth in him. He is praying about his next move. There are several opportunities for fall, but right now he needs a job. He is still short about a thousand dollars on his support and also has some hospital bills. If anyone would like to send support for him you can send to JUMP at 1827 Topping Ave., Bronx, NY 10457. We will see that it gets to the proper place.
NEW REQUESTS
Please pray for grace from the interviewer so Ronal will be able to get a tourist visa. Rachel is coming home from Honduras to visit in June. Her husband Ronal is unable to come yet. He has an appointment for his visa while she is here on June 10.
Pray for our summer teams for unity, safety and transformation and for us for unity, purity and stamina.
